The Comedy Death Ray is proud to announce that for the next TEN consecutive Tuesday night shows, comedy record breaker, Matt Besser will attempt to establish the record for most original characters attempted in consecutive weeks at a Comedy Death Ray show.
February 8, 15, 22
March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
April 5, 12
Matt Besser is a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade sketch group, and regular performer at the Comedy Death Ray. Until now Besser has never attempted to do a different character every week for more than three weeks in a row. Scott Aukerman, the artistic director, creator, and booker of the Comedy Death Ray, says “I’ve seen a comedian do ten characters before, but usually that is over a period of years, sometimes decades. To be honest, I don’t think he’ll be able to do it, but we’re willing to give him the stage to try. If he crashes and burns, then that will be entertaining too.”
Besser promises to return to his most popular characters including the Pope, Bjork, and the Overly Ambitious Intern, but also guarantees new characters that have never been seen on American soil. “If any of my characters don’t work,” says Besser, “then the character won’t count. But I won’t fail. I will take the comedy record away from the Soviets, and bring it back to the USA.” Besser currently holds the record for most jokes told in one minute, and most characters in five minutes, and world’s tallest joke (see photo).
